GWORD – Word is GOD 道就是神

The Just "義人"

The just "義人" shall live on the principle of faith "信" (義人必因信得生)

Living in a metropolis where it’s a “dog eat dog” world and it is the “survival of the fittest”, it seems that the fate of every urban dweller is to compete with others. People will agree that winning over your competition by your own strength is the way to survive in society.

Many successful people indeed were able to achieve high positions by beating out the competition with their own capabilities. However no matter how successful we are, we will find that there are things that are hard to overcome, such as the sinful nature inside mankind – selfishness, arrogance, covetousness, envy, jealously, lying, etc., and many more countless filthy and evil thoughts. “There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10). The Bible absolutely points to us that there is no one who is considered to be righteous or proper in the eyes of God. Perhaps you may say, “God is so dictatorial and judgemental, I know many more people who are worse!” This point of view is only from man’s perspective, but unfortunately the Bible says that only God is the Ultimate Judge. The standard and authority is within God Himself. God not only sees the deeds of man, but much more so He looks within the heart. If we honestly ask ourselves, out of the things we have done in the past, how many cannot be revealed and would not pass God’s standards? The Bible further reminds us, “The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23). Human life was already corrupted long before. No matter how much effort we put into practicing good deeds, all in the end will be futile. We are destined to fail and we cannot escape the resulting death from God’s judgement.

Thank God that He so loved the world and that He did not want us to perish. Thus, He prepared a means of salvation – the just man shall live by faith! Since we are “justified by faith”, we no longer need to rely on ourselves. The Bible clearly promised: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10) Today, as long as we humbly repent, confess that we are helpless sinners that cannot save ourselves, and solely accept by faith the salvation that the Lord completed on the cross, God will place our status as a “just man”. As such, we will not perish, but have everlasting life. Not only will be gain everlasting life, but also the just shall live by faith”, meaning our living will depend on faith. Once we believe in Jesus, the Lord’s new life will enter us and substitute for our original old life, which was full of lusts and sin. In our daily living, only when we trust and obey the guidance of this new life, and rely on the Lord in our lives, this life will slowly grow; it will bear fruits of righteousness and do what is right in the eyes of God.

I (the Lord) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b)

Rather than relying on yourself and ending up in vanity, why not rely on the Lord to receive abundantly? May you soon believe in the Lord and become an eternal victor who has won eternal life.
